Introducing The Freedom Seat Seminars website

I've finally decided to take the plunge and start teaching adult classes about Women in Aviation - and Women who Drive Fast Cars!

My first classes are set for this coming February at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Eventually I hope to be able to travel throughout the Rocky Mountain region giving these seminars.

To that end, I've created a website, The Freedom Seat seminars. (thefreedomseatseminars.com).

And I've also created a new blog, that is going to document women in aviation, women who drive cars, as well as mountain climbers, scientists, etc - basically women who broke the mold of what a woman's role should be.

I've added three PDFs, all free, to the Downloads page of the webiste:

http://thefreedomseat.blogspot.com/2016/12/3-free-downloads-available-from.html

One is a comic strip story of the 1969 Powder Puff Derby, written and drawn by Milton Caniff. It appeared in his Steve Canyon comic strip and featured his niece and pilot friend Bitsy Beekman. The two have adventures on their way to the start of the Derby, and so never actually participate. It's kind of fun.

The second is a PDF of the first World Flight newsletter issued by Linda Finch, a businesswoman who recreated - and completed - Amelia Earhart's last flight in 1997, on the 50th anniversary of her attempt.

Finally, there's a guide to all 100 of the Smithsonian Institution's Milestones of Flight First Day Cover series, with an image of all 100 covers and their text.

Check it out, and please bookmark thefreedomseat.blogspot.com for more women in aviation news!
