-- Donna Kohout
I continue to get most of my hits from people looking for Lt. Kara Wade!
Kara Wade is a fictional character, from the movie Stealth. She's billed as the first woman to fly the Stealth attack plane, the Nighthawk (and was played by Jessica Biel) This is because a mass email seems to be sent out on a periodic basis, purporting to be photos of the naval maneuvers of Valiant Sheild. And one of the photos features "Kara Wade" in the cockpit - and doesn't point out that she's a fictional character.
What I want to know is - why wasn't Donna Kohout - the real first woman to fly the Nighthawk, included instead? (Since she did so, at least two other women have also piloted this plane).
Read my interview with Donna Kohout, at:
Donna Kohout: 1st woman to fly the F-117A - Nighthawk.
This is the photo of the fictional Kara Wade:

Kohout is one of the service people discussed in this book.

good post - we're gonna give it a mention tomorrow on Flight Line Radio! Keep up the great work - we enjoy linking back to you with some of the great stories you post - and my girls like it too!
Thank you for the clarification. I received some pics of Boeing new technology which was giving credit to a female pilot Kara Wade. Like many stories this pilot came from a Left Coast movie. Let's give credit where credit is due. Donna Kohout is a true American hero. Thank God for Donna and the rest of the service men and women who keep this country free serving in our armed forces.
My nefnew serves on the Uss Ronald Reagan and the picture of the carrier fleet was taking last year not in 2006 as this photo shows. All of the views that I have seen are tainted like the Kara Wade photo except the carrier fleet. This photo was the only time in 20 years that this many carriers have been in the same place at the same time. It was a hush hush time because vice president Biden was on one of the carriers. In as much as the photo of the fleet there are also 4 submaraines in the water for protection. The Reagan now heads to drydock to be refited but this picture was last year. Post this or not makes no matter to me but the truth has to be out there.
I find it interesting that the original blog showing the carrier task force called Valient Shield in 2006 was dated Jan 2009 and that someone claims that this is a picture taken in 2012. I don't have to do a lot of math to figure out that the 2012 statement isn't reliable. Additionally, the only reason I was investigating is because an email was sent to me with pictures of the "Talon" fighter jet flown by "Lt. Kara Wade", along with pictures of a carrier task force and the "new" USS New York. It is too bad that we don't take pride in those who do serve our country. Instead we thump our chest and wave flags along with the slogan "we're number one.". If you get one of those phony emails stuff into the trash where it belongs.
